I have a 2011 Macbook with two partitions and Windows loaded on one partition with VMware fusion. I would like to remove the partition and Windows and Vmware and restore to a single disk to free up space. I have read that this is possible, but others say you cannot do that with Mavericks without reformating the whole disc. Looking for second opinions on this before I do it.
I found these instructions below, I just want to make sure this isn’t a bad idea and I lose everything. I just did a full Time Machine backup in case.
Does anyone think this isd a bad idea doig it this way? (See below)
This guide will help you remove a Boot Camp windows partition from your Mac:
- Make sure that nobody else is logged on (log out other users by switching to them and choosing Apple > Log Out)
- Quit all other open apps
- Launch boot camp assistant and click Continue
- Select Remove Windows 7 or later version then click Continue
- If your Mac has a single internal hard drive, click Restore
- If your Mac has more than one drive select the Windows disk and clickRestore Disk to a Single Partition then click Continue
Boot Camp Assistant will then go through the process of removing the Windows partition from the Mac.
Note that all the files will be deleted from the Windows disk so be sure to backup all important data from the Windows partition before removing the partition. This does not remove the Boot Camp Assistant from your Mac, which will remain in the Applications folder (it’s best to keep it around in case you need it again).
